The Wooster Collective put together the greatest set of graffiti and street art I've ever seen in one place in the former candle building, 11 Spring Street, a longstanding open-air gallery of street art (seen here in June 2004). This is the last chance, as demolition begins tomorrow; the indoor art will be sealed behind drywall as a time capsule. Here's the backstory.
More from 11 Spring on Flickr: mine and other people's.
Here's a video of the absurd line to get in on Sunday. And a Times article with the backstory.
Gothamist has a very comprehensive look inside.
A truly remarkable and historic event.
pretty sweet!
glad to see you're back!
Better than The Gates.
Fantastic work!
Welcome back. Excellent shots!
Thanks for sharing those shots. I was pretty upset to be out of town during the whole exhibition.
welcome back and great shots!

Wow. Do the authorities leave artwork like that, or do they remove it like any grafitti?
That's my dumbass friend in the second picture. Nice work!
it's sad you don't post anymore
hi i stumbled upon your site via stumble upon and i love your work :)
cheers!
Why did you die? Was this just a phase? Are you not interested anymore and moved onto something else?
Hey Mike, I REALLY miss your blog. I am hoping at some pint you will start it up again. I used to visit ever day. Your work is inspiring and it gaves me that taste of NYC that I carve constantly.
I just wanted to let you know you are missed, wherever you are!
hey hey. the wooster collective does do a great job but this work is not the best i have seen on the website or the best that is out there. i think there needs to be a greater expanse shown of graffiti works. not just the most trendy of the work.
think of the future

Wow... a while back some scouts came to our storage building to find out if we want to rent it out for a movie shoot.. I think that this place would have been perfect!
