Tsukiji fish market

10/31/05

The only thing to do when you get to Tokyo and wake up jet-lagged at 4 a.m. is to go to the Tsukiji fish market -- and then to get unbelievably good sushi, made from that day's fish, for breakfast.

Was just there on Saturday and also went to Daewa Zushi. That piece of tuna on the left was ridiculously good.

WOW!!! That sushi looks like it would swim away in a second...and looks like it will melt in your mouth.

Gorgeous how you can zoom in on the fish and it looks like art. It's also interesting how the guys at the Tsukiji fish market don't look all that different than the guys at Fulton. Let's hear it for the fish-guys!

Neat shots.
It threw me off to see the bathroom shot though. Was there a sign that all employees must wash their hands?

Glad you're back Mike. I missed you. Incredible shots. Now I want sushi.

Hello !!!

I couldn't find any good salmon sashimi in Tokyo...

and I know that MAGURO rules in the fish market..

Could you please tell me where I can easily find (in Tokyo) an excellent salmon sushi, sashimi and maki, etc...??

Your photos are fantastic!!!

I don't remember any particularly good salmon I had there. It's generally better in the US, I think. The sanma (mackerel pike), on the other hand, was in season and absolutely outstanding.

Superb pics that really do justice to the fishmarket. I took a bunch of shots there a year or two ago. It is an awesome place....

Interesting photos. Can you shoot some nice japanese kois and bonsai plants photos and display them in here? Thanks! Much appreciated.

Perhaps the point of the restroom pic is the mandatory foot-bath on the way in and out?

For the best salmon, head for the Pacific northwest. Every major salmon-spawning river, from the Sacramento on up, has an annual festival somewhere along its length.

Very nice, I can almost smell it!

Wow, the sushi at that place must be great! The difference between that and what we get here at home, hundreds of miles from the ocean, must be just huge.
