Wonderful series. Two thumbs up for the pregnancy/lubrication spot, if intentional. What a haggard area.

Where was that last one taken, I've see that exact EBE newsstand but I don't remember where......

I think it's actually on College in Berkeley.

Twenty years ago I was sent to Oakland CA as a "detailee" (scab to most folk) to do a union job during a "labor action" (strike to most folk) at Western Union where I was then a non-union management employee in Mahwah NJ. These photos bring back memories of that gritty blue collar city. I must say though by way of full disclosure there were some (not many) nice residential areas in that city at that time.

Those are some nice shots of SF coming in on the plane. You're coming in from the southeast, I imagine. Where's Pac Bell? I can't make it out. And Oakland. Who can forget Oakland. Nice shots of da hood. (I went to Sonoma State in the North Bay.)

nice pictures of west oakland; as the previous comments mention it is a pretty bleak cityscape, although it iseems to be cleaning up a bit near the west oakland BART station. thanks for posting the series, as a recent transplant from the bay area it is nice to see parts of the old neighborhood.
