Central Park. More over at Rion. Non-snowy Gates here.
Jason is looking for micropatrons. I'm not entirely sure what they are, either, but that didn't stop me from becoming one.
Thank God. I am so tired of photos of the Gates! So happy you exposed NY's follower mentality!! ;)
I don't think I've ever seen so many people with cameras in one place. I was really suprised. It also seems that if you carry a big camera around it's seen as an invitation for people to ask "do you mind taking a picture of us, you look like you know what you're doing". It was pretty funny, I think I took about 8 pictures for different people.
These photoa are great, "always shoot a shooter"
good idea, i like it
How very 'meta' of you. While all the other bloggers are just taking pictures, you're taking pictures of them taking pictures.
I'm getting dizzy so I'm going to sit down now.
You're always a step ahead, man.
I like very much your page and yours photos, too!
Congratulations!
Aha! Spotted Rion. Twice in fact. Fantastic series. I rushed to the park Mon am, got there at 7:15 -- it was a sea of tripods, large-format cameras, digital SLRs. It was like a convention.
Photogs Shooting Photogs!!!
AAIIIEEEEE!!!
Where will this madness lead???

I had the same impulse when I spent time in the park. And I kept thinking how many of these pictures will look the same/different/good/bad/unique?
It's like the ubiquitous pictures of national monuments taken by millions of tourists around the world.
And yet when someone like you takes the picture it is like no one else's.
u r only going to see this once in your life time and never again what could be wrong with that if u noticed people were friendly and moved outta your way so u can get a nice picture of what you want i know i got mine back and love them and one day will pull them out of the old box and remember what a day that wasthe gateman
nobody talks about the real thing - the gates of one of the kyotan shrines. compareing to those the gates in central park are just such a kitch
Nice series. The idea is of course as old as the history of photography or even older (painters painting painters), but it's always interesting. Martin Parr has made some great photos like that. I'm sure I feature in many such photos as well. There's a short essay on my site in which I've written down some thoughts about photos of news photographers at work.

I'm sure we could learn a lot of things by taking pictures of people taking pictures of the world's greatest monument! As I passed by Venice, Italy last summer, by walking around, listening, observing, meeting and talking to people during two whole days I could have a "snapshot" of who are the tourists today, what nationalities were their and a lot of them were from indonesia, middle east, russia and China...
>>u r only going to see this once in your life time and never again what could be wrong with that
Same with the bowel movement I had today.
Cool concept. Man, that one guy with the Minolta digital camera has the fattest damn hands I've ever seen!
Very nice pictures. See also my snowy pics in Cineto Romano (Rome) - ITALY
