Henry and Hicks Streets, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn
wonderful. i wonder how old the pepsi sign on the door is.
I'll just post this generic comment to go with all of those generic signs!
i think you missed the point, the signs aren't supposed to be quirky or strange. the point is that all these places look incredibly old and they're all shut up tight and closed down. you just imagine the patrons they used to draw, their ghosts walking in these now forbidden, cut-off, and decaying spaces.
that's the creepest neighbourhood i've ever seen. do people really live there? and if they do; why?
pete: Most of it is actually quite nice. Giving the SL treatment to most any neighborhood makes it look creepy. :)
In response to Pete, I will attest that I live there every day of my life (2nd Place and Henry). The end of Henry photographed here is a little spooky, especially at night and around Long Island College Hospital and Hicks/the BQE. I have always loved the TV repair shop as a disused location. The Long Island actually does a brisk business, and the Coffee Shop in the first pic is a fine new restaurant called Sam's that has preserved the old facade.
"Pepsi please" is from the late fifties and the early sixties
nice pictures! love these creepy images of old buildings. there's something exciting about wandering around at night, taking pictures in dodgey places.
