London street art 2: Banksy

12/11/04

London. Banksy is probably the world's most famous stencil artist; as far as I know, he's never been to New York, so I was looking forward to catching some of his work in London. I believe everything above is a Banksy piece; in addition, one commenter suggested that one or two of yesterday's pieces were Banksy's as well; I don't know which ones. And the bouncers in the second-to-last photo here are apparently by Banksy.

The last pic in your previous set is a very similar to the third banksy pic down, on the right. But there are some differences (the banksy site one has the bottle closer, without an x on it, and that face looks sharper...) And they appear to be in different locations.

Im not positive on the very last one either in the previous set,but the mice welding,or doing whatever,im quite sure are banksy..

Speaking of him,has anyone seen the his site? With the cows with pieces on their sides, and the crosswalk painted over top of a car??? AMAZING! Keep up the good photos, this site makes my day every time i come!

The rats are most definitely Banksy or a v. good copycat. I 'collect' the rats:

The drunken fallen angel is also Banksy. Did you get a chance to visit Santa's Ghetto whilst in London?

I was pretty positive they were both his..but i didnt wanna come off like a moron and be like yeah he did both of those! he rules....

well, banksy does rule..more than anyone,we all know that...

I don't know how I feel about spray painting cows. I'm no PETA nut, but I know I wouldn't want to be spray painted.

The rats, though, are really cool.

And, of course, I thoroughly enjoyed these pictures, as usual.

Are you saying that s/he actually spraypaints cows?

That's pretty fucked up (spraypainting trees is also.)

I never said what was right or wrong, just merely stating some things that are featured on his site.

Can anyone help. I live in St Albans, in Hertfordshire and we have an old abandoned odeon cinema in london road. On the front of the cinema is a stencil of an angel. It looks like one of Banksy's work. Has anyone seen it/know for certain if it's real or a very good fake.

Posted by: Russell Pavitt at May 21, 2007 07:19 PM

appreciate the angel for what it is. when you say real or fake you imply that someone tried to pass it off as something it's not. it sounds cool though i'll check it out
