Something Else..., Vinyl Factory Gallery, London. More here. Happy birthday Swoon!
Is it just me, or are those larger than usual bottles of Budweiser? I've always wanted to be able to drink through my eyeball.
Great pictures, as usual!
The web suggests they are actually slightly smaller than US bottles: 330 ml (US bottles are 12 oz or 355 ml).
The real question, though, is why anyone would serve Budweiser in England.
Mike, unfortunately crap lager is really popular here. I don't know why when the best pilsners and Belgian beer, not to mention real ales, are so inexpensive and readily available!
Hope you don't mind me commenting so much btw :-)
Odd... perhaps they're taller bottles or something. As for why they'd serve Budweiser, I'd imagine it's the same reason they serve it here -- it goes down like water, so you can drink a lot of it quickly and get drunk in a hurry. Of course, if they serve Budweiser at room temperature the way they do with the rest of their beer, I have no idea why anyone would want it.
Jesse, that's a common misconception - cask ale is served at cellar temperature, so quite cool. And lagers are served chilled.
Cheers!
Maccie chavs!
What a party. The guy in the bear suit is a great. Excellent photo, makes me want beer.
Cheers.
Redcountess,
I was only in England for about a week of my life, and it was three years ago, so I'll trust you that not all beer there is served at room temperature. I just remember that almost all of what I drank was pretty warm, except for "Extra Cold Guinness," which pubs seemed proud to offer.

Wow... an Apple trucker cap. I think a paradigm just shifted.
thanks for arranging a vicarious tour for the rest of us:-)
Petrol, now all the USians are going to wonder what a chav is ;-) (Answer: the British equivalent to a hick or trailer trash)
Can you explain the third one down? Was it done on glass?
Alexis: Those are Swoon's life-size figures in a fairly elaborate installation. They're on translucent plastic. This link might give you a better idea of the mechanics involved.
Not enough attention is given to "ghost" signs
thanks
Thanks for the link Mike. I really like her stuff on the streets, but I was really struck by the seemingly floating Swoon figures in your photos.
