East London
More graffito please.
I love the 'fog' photograph. Emblematic of the times.
mike, you too? :D
"You too?" Heck, when I saw rion's site yesterday I was wondering if you were a pair! :-)
Hey Mike, that grass-covered rail terminus shot is fantastic. It not only covers the decay you like so much, but is also plain beautiful. Is your high res version as beutiful as its potential? (Kinda reminds me of the Franklin Avenue Shuttle ten years ago, before attention was paid to it.)
Where is that abandoned station located? What was its name?
Mitch45, it may be a disused platform rather than an abandoned station, but if you'd like info about abandoned stations on the Underground see http://www.starfury.demon.co.uk/uground/ .
It's an active station, Shoreditch on the East London line. Only the left platform is used; the one on the right is abandoned.
excellent as usual.
Funny that someone mentioned the Franklin Ave. shuttle, b/c I was looking at these and thinking they reminded me a lot of Brooklyn.
The first shot in the 'East London' series is great. I love the way you've captured the bend in the lane. Very nice.
Jay
Mike, I was wondering if it was Shoreditch!
FYI, the whole station is soon to be abandoned as they will be building a new Shoreditch station near the entrance of the former Bishopsgate Goods Yard for the East London Line Project.
I can't believe it!!!
I was caught, captured, held in place for FOUR HOURS! from beginning to current. Unbeleivable.
Thank you!
I'm not sure what it is your after, but you entertained me, with wonderful (and sometimes tragic) pictures of city life, through the eyes of a stranger.
I will continue with your voyage, until you stop.
ah, east london. i used to live near shoreditch, down by mile end, back in the day. nice to know it still looks the same.
Looks nothing like the Franklin avenue shuttle. I take it evry Saturday and it's cool. I like how it goes past the poor neighborhoods.
the first picture, 'fog everywhere' looks like St. Catherine's Wheel Alley, sort of across the street from Liverpool station, near the police station, and a good shortcut to Spitalfields. starts off wide and squeeeeeezes down to body width size, then opens up again.
Is that poster of the dark punkish guy Nick Cave?
