VOTE OR DIE BIATCHES! OR DIE!!!!

Posted by: Liberal at November 2, 2004 06:46 AM

voted this morning. president-elect kerry and an 8x10 of city hall station sound like the makings of a good november 3 to me. . .

Posted by: Frank at November 2, 2004 07:40 AM

Not a US citizen (just a NYophile), but I, like the rest of the world will be watching this day with baited breath!

Posted by: redcountess at November 2, 2004 07:58 AM

just got back from voting... surprisingly, the lines weren't all that bad (though there's no telling what it'll be like later today).

Go Kerry!!

Posted by: oel at November 2, 2004 08:02 AM

In this election, who in their right mind could forget to vote? Sadly, I'm sure people might.

Posted by: corie at November 2, 2004 08:11 AM

I haven't voted yet. i have to get to work too early in the morning. but I will be going on my way home from work tonight, along with everyone else I think. I foresee VERY LOOOOOOONG lines later.

Posted by: Cheryl at November 2, 2004 08:18 AM

i voted- not that it matters, since i, like most of you, live in nyc.

Posted by: jake at November 2, 2004 08:42 AM

I think the popular vote matters -- for the perception of a mandate, if nothing else.

Too bad there are no close races here in NY. I don't even have a viable option for voting against the assemblyman who resigned in disgrace and is now essentially unopposed. Albany is so corrupt.

Posted by: Mike at November 2, 2004 08:46 AM

hmm, my vote looks very similar to yours.

and with republicans getting out the minority vote on nov. 3, some people might forget to vote...

Posted by: tien at November 2, 2004 08:49 AM

Unfortunately, the Onion got that idea from reality.

Posted by: Mike at November 2, 2004 08:59 AM

Live free or die!

Posted by: Mberkow at November 2, 2004 09:00 AM

If I was a US citizen I would. I tossed my support to him in lots of the online polls in the run up to the election.

Posted by: Geoff at November 2, 2004 09:03 AM

It makes me very happy that Satan's Laundromat and I voted for the same candidate! Can you send the photo international? Because if Bush isn't ousted I may have to flee that country.

Posted by: liz at November 2, 2004 09:13 AM

I voted weeks ago via absentee ballot (I live in Israel).

Posted by: David at November 2, 2004 09:28 AM

hell yes I voted...I was first in my district this morning (the polling place is across the street from my house)....recent transplant from nyc to nj...a little bit more of a battleground area than nyc I suppose...so, glad to do my bit to try and unseat this disgraceful administration!! love yr site, btw.....

Posted by: pete at November 2, 2004 09:38 AM

I voted absentee about a week ago. California being the hotly contested state that it is, I wanted to make sure my vote was counted in time.

Posted by: Mike at November 2, 2004 10:22 AM

I voted this morning at 6:10. Not a long line at that time. I wanted to miss the long lines later in the day.

Posted by: KirkF at November 2, 2004 10:24 AM

I voted @ 8:30 AM. By then the poll worker said we'd already surpassed her memory of total turnout.

Keep it up, USA: be heard!

Posted by: Frank at November 2, 2004 10:26 AM

Get out there. I voted. Satan's Laundromat rocks.

Posted by: lotoole at November 2, 2004 10:56 AM

i voted. it was so boss. it was at some elementary school in dallas. the principle kept getting mad at the voters for blocking the school hallways. it was beautiful.

Posted by: kevin at November 2, 2004 11:04 AM

As a Canadian, I voted in spirit only. Go Kerry!

Posted by: Jon J at November 2, 2004 11:07 AM

I cast my ballot at PS 120 in Brooklyn on the way in to work this morning - my first vote as a New Yorker. I was surprised and saddened to be one of the very few voters there. I certainly hope things pick up as the day goes on.

Posted by: jenblossom at November 2, 2004 11:09 AM

I voted, a few weeks ago. Absentee ballots are the bee's knees.

Posted by: gulebukser at November 2, 2004 11:15 AM

I voted at PS50 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was VERY crowded, but well organized and I was out of there in 10 minutes or so. I was very happy to see all the locals there, voting in droves. Yay Kerry!

Posted by: sarah at November 2, 2004 11:17 AM

I voted!

Posted by: Nichelle at November 2, 2004 11:19 AM

Just got into work from voting! There was/is quite a turnout with people lined up out the doors! Cheers!

Posted by: Brandon at November 2, 2004 11:31 AM

i voted! but only once.

Posted by: regis at November 2, 2004 11:39 AM

Voted in Chicago 11th ward. Kerry and Obama, baby.

Posted by: jenny macchione at November 2, 2004 11:40 AM

Hi,

I live in Marlboro, NJ, and I voted earlier today! My mother, jokingly, said that she wouldn't drive me at first, if I voted for Kerry (she's a Bush supporter. Ugh!) But finally, my vote is on!

Posted by: Grace Toy at November 2, 2004 12:02 PM

I voted this morning for Kerry - trying to make some progress in what is unfortunately a Bush state (Tennessee).

Posted by: meg at November 2, 2004 12:09 PM

Voted. VA for Kerry. 1.5 hour long line at 7:30 am.

Posted by: jess at November 2, 2004 12:11 PM

Yes, I voted. At my polling place in Columbus I arrived at 8:45 and left at 11:45am. 3 hours, but worth it. I didn't see any of the four horsemen of the apocalypse while I was there, which is always a good sign.

Posted by: Monika at November 2, 2004 12:22 PM

Was the only one,
Yes the only one voting in my district...
#6 in Clinton Hill(FT Greene), Brooklyn this morning. Where are all you guys?

All the other booths had lines of 15 people or more.

Posted by: Eva at November 2, 2004 12:23 PM

I voted - Working Family party baby!

There's a couple kinda-close races here. They dragged out Frank Barbaro (who you might remember from such races as getting creamed for mayor by Ed Koch in 1981) to run for Congress agaist Vito Fossella in Southern Brooklyn/Staten Island, and he's actually putting up a pretty decent fight. The State Senate race in Southern Brooklyn/Staten Island is close too, as is the one in the East Bronx. I think that's about it.

Posted by: Moe at November 2, 2004 12:36 PM

PS 51 in Hells Kitchen was VERY crowded today. lots of long (and slightly confusing) lines. YAY long lines!!!

i absofuckinglutely voted.

Posted by: rion at November 2, 2004 12:37 PM

I arrived at my polling place and stood in the longest line I've ever seen there (I've been in the same district for 6 Novembers) but when I left an hour later (after voting) the line was down to less than 30 people. The officials said 1/3 of my district voted early this year.

Posted by: sirshannon at November 2, 2004 12:59 PM

Yes, I voted. I caught a short line here in balmy Richmond Va at 6:30 this morning and I got in and out in 20 minutes.
I hear the lines are getting silly now, though.

Posted by: Michael at November 2, 2004 01:09 PM

i didn't vote today, because i voted two weeks ago. for kerry. here in oregon, we vote by mail, so we don't have to wait in line at all. my dad in virginia says theye was a long line-up when he went to work at 6am. high turnout is a good sign for kerry. i have been looking forward to this day for a year now.

Posted by: will at November 2, 2004 01:16 PM

I voted. I was going to take a photo of the vote with my D70 but was scared the old ladies would beat my arse down.

Posted by: Etan at November 2, 2004 01:17 PM

Very pleasant voting experience today. Glad I went nice and early.I also had a lovely cup of coffee.

Posted by: Alexis at November 2, 2004 01:28 PM

Posted by: Fred Smella at November 2, 2004 01:40 PM

i voted so hard i needed a second cup of coffee.

Posted by: johnnie utah at November 2, 2004 01:51 PM

Did so with pen to paper, by passing 50 some odd folks waiting for the computers.

Posted by: Dan at November 2, 2004 01:52 PM

I voted this morning at about 8:30. I couldn't have possibly gotten through the workday without doing so.

Posted by: jose at November 2, 2004 02:17 PM

We had early voting here in Boise for the last month, and I happen to work right at the building where they do it. So I voted a couple of weeks ago.

Posted by: Kevin at November 2, 2004 02:27 PM

Voted at about 9:30 am. Kinda wished it was like Ash Wednesday...after you walk out you get a nice mark on your foreheard, and then everyone doesn't have to ask you if you voted yet.

Posted by: Judith at November 2, 2004 02:37 PM

I voted for the first time today(I'm 18). I voted for Kerry for president and for myself for sheriff becuase I live in the nation's oldest city(st.augustine, fl) with a very corrupt police force with two republicans running. Hopefully I get my badge and gun tomorrow.

Posted by: Anthony at November 2, 2004 02:57 PM

Voted for Kerry in PA!

Posted by: wayne at November 2, 2004 03:13 PM

voted @ 8 AM--very short line--for Kerry, although he's hard to get enthusiastic about. And I don't think he has any plan for what to do if he wins. I just can't give Bush my vote after he got us into a war over WMDs, couldn't find them, and now can't win.

Posted by: sam at November 2, 2004 03:14 PM

voted for kerry in jackson, mississippi this morning. crazy turnout so far way down in the deepsouth. gonna be interesting... i'm bartending tonight if any of yous happen to be in downtown jackson. great drnk specials, all tv's turned up loud. come celebrate/drown your sorrows
cheers...

Posted by: jaysus at November 2, 2004 03:24 PM

I voted! I go to school in Ohio and I stood in line for 4 1/2 hours. Half of the time was spent in the rain. But I voted. It was my first time.

oh yes, gorham, maine, bright and early. very early.

Posted by: ellen at November 2, 2004 03:42 PM

i voted the KICK THE BUMS OUT! ticket. nice short wait here at ps307 this morning.

Posted by: branch at November 2, 2004 03:46 PM

Voted early one week ago, but I await anxiously the results tonight.

Kerry will win and the REAL hard work will begin.

It is our responsibility to use our authority to keep John Kerry and his administration on course thorughout the next four years.

Posted by: reuben at November 2, 2004 03:46 PM

Mike you are the man.

VOTE or DIE

Posted by: Andrew at November 2, 2004 04:06 PM

But of course I voted!

Posted by: Claudia at November 2, 2004 04:10 PM

I voted this morning. Had a forty minute wait in the Minneapolis drizzle but believe me it was worth it!

Posted by: Christine at November 2, 2004 04:21 PM

I voted...there are some who I wish didn't, namely those who voted for Bush. God help us if he wins. GO KERRY!!

Posted by: jason at November 2, 2004 04:23 PM

I almost posted a small rant that could've easily grown into something MUCH larger. It was with regards to everyone going nuts about "Go vote!" and stuff. I'm glad I kept myself in reserve.

I sent in my absentee ballot last week. I'm hoping Kerry wins.

Posted by: Matt at November 2, 2004 05:08 PM

Voting was a snap
I stood in line for about 20 minutes and then spent about another 10 on the ballot itself -- there were about 15 ballot initiatives and propositions. I was surprised that there was a line at all regardless of what I'd heard on NPR.

The only trouble I can report is the sun was in my eyes as I waiting in line and All Star Donuts proves problematic as a polling place location since people are fussing over creamer and stirrers and donuts and the smell of donuts is distracting. I would have liked to have exercised my democratic rights without the frenzy of a business, just this once.

I don't understand why we can't be given a receipt though. I mean, I leave with my ballot stubs and a preachy "I Voted" sticker and nothing else. I have no idea that my ballot has been accepted or not. In San Francisco County we use the optical scan technique, which sounds highly technical but in truth requires the voter to draw a line between two broken arrows and their choice so that a big bold arrow points at it.

I checked and rechecked. It all seemed to check out.

Now the waiting. And the drinking.

Posted by: gabik at November 2, 2004 05:21 PM

Voted this morning in Oakland, CA. We had the choice between paper ballots and the evil Diebold touch-screen machines, but if you wanted to vote on paper, you'd better have brought your own damn pen, because they weren't providing any. Suck!

Posted by: Matthew at November 2, 2004 05:27 PM

Voted today! Nice promotion. I like it.

Posted by: Brian at November 2, 2004 05:34 PM

Yes - first thing - before coffee. Peace.

Posted by: sTabby at November 2, 2004 05:57 PM

Crazy. In California things are pretty tame. I'm hoping for Prop 62 to pass, so that moderates can win the primaries for a change. I don't know which 8x10 I want.

Posted by: cat at November 2, 2004 06:11 PM

Got a free limo ride for voting.

(to my polling place and back)

Posted by: chrish at November 2, 2004 06:25 PM

I did. Proof: http://www.aboutmattlaw.com/archives/001743.html

Posted by: Matt at November 2, 2004 06:44 PM

I VOTED SO HARD I BLED OUT MY EYES! Not really. My polling place was the deadest I've ever seen a polling place in my three years of voting. A very evenly split collection of upper middle class people = booooring. I was hoping to see some fights.

Is that your ballot at the top? That thing's fucked up lookin'.

Posted by: nick at November 2, 2004 07:42 PM

Voted absentee ballot in New York. And then drew some pictures.

Oh boy - did I ever vote - last week, absentee in Northern California.

Go John & John!

Posted by: LarryB at November 2, 2004 09:36 PM

Voted this morning via the new (to my precinct) optical scan method. After darkening the holes with a inky-black pencil, I shoved the large card into the shredder, er, scanner. Hope that's what it was.

Posted by: joey harrison at November 2, 2004 10:12 PM

Voted this am..felt very patriotic !! Satanslaundromat rocks !!!

Posted by: bigcab at November 2, 2004 11:09 PM

I voted at about 7am this morning with no line. Spent the rest of the day stewing in annoyance at all of the people coming into my store saying they voted for BUSH. I did not, unfortunately, call them swine...

Posted by: mrgrooism at November 2, 2004 11:29 PM

got up at 6.15 AM and started my wait in line at 6.30. I got to vote at about 7.30. after that wait, it was off to the DMV to get my license renewed - i didn't see as many "I'm a Georgia voter" stickers as i'd been expecting, and the lines at the DMV were worse than the voting lines.

Posted by: ryan at November 3, 2004 10:03 AM

I was in and out within a few minutes. I have no idea what the hell they were up to in pennsylvania but it's insane that people got stuck waiting in lines that snaked around parking lots.

Posted by: jaime at November 3, 2004 11:09 AM

I did not vote, because I am not a US citizen and do not live in the USA, but I would've if I could've (for Kerry) and I always do when I can.

I really admire the person who voted before even coffee.

Posted by: Adam at November 3, 2004 12:55 PM

... but all for naught. I can't believe the mitant ignorance of the masses. That religious, eco-murdering fanatic gets four more years of plunder... I just really really can't believe it. *sigh*

I voted for Kerry. I live in a small all white (pretty much) fairly wealthy town in South Florida. We used those touch screen machines and just like I feared, when the time came to review my vote and say, yes, this is really who I want to vote for, I kept pushing the yes button and it wouldn't go through. I couldn't believe it. Finally, after whacking the screen hard a number of times, it took my vote, hopefully for Kerry though who knows?
