Iron Triangle, Flushing, Queens
lost generation: Nice, extremely wide photos from Bulgaria.
Kum Gang......Nice!
I like the way that the Korean Ark Church seems to offer "Full Machine Shop Services" and "Marine Batteries, Filters & Ignition Parts."
Hah! I love that giant circular saw. (in shot #3 from the top)
There's a lot of Korean in these photos, I'm noticing. Kum Gang probably refers to the famous mountain in North Korea. Of course, there's also a rural river near where I live called the Geum Gang (which could also be anglicized that way).
Perhaps of interest is that, in the last picture, the first two syllables spell out "Nyu Yok"... ie. the only way to render "New York" in Korean, which lacks an "r" but has a long "uh" that sounds close. The last two syllables mean "Protestant church", probably Presbyterian; the middle two syllables I don't know, but I guess it means "Ark"... aha, yes, same as in the English on the sign, corroborates my dictionary.
There must be a lot of Koreans in the Iron Triangle, anyway.
