Iron Triangle 1

08/02/04

The Iron Triangle is an industrial wasteland between Shea Stadium and downtown Flushing. The city wants to clean up the area's junkyards and chop shops. The Triangle is sometimes erroneously called Willets Point because its main street, named Willets Point Boulevard, was originally intended to run to the real Willets Point, near Fort Totten in northeastern Queens.

Ash heaps!

Interestingly, the Iron Triangle was also the name of a Viet Cong stronghold in South Vietnam...

That rusted out bottle is disgusting, yet I can't take my eyes away from it.

What is up with that bottle?

I do not know how you guys think a platic bottle can rust. It is obviously full of the famous Scottish soft drink called "I'rn Bru" pronouced iron brew but with a Scottish accent.

The Iron Triangle may be a blight to some, but for others like myself, it's the only alternative to getting ripped off by $80 an hour AAA certified mechanics. Prices are reasonable, and they do good work. I've had everything from clutch replacement to strut and frame work there ... all for about a 3rd of what it would cost at a "legit" repair shop. Don't judge a book by it's covers. The Iron Triangle is an important part of our daily lives in Queens, NY.
