Pleasant Avenue 1

Pleasant Avenue, East Harlem

Pleasant Avenue is reputed to be a mafia stronghold, and the burly men standing on the corner who questioned us about our business did nothing to dispel that impression.

I wish I could be there for the protest. Unfortunately, though, I won't be making it to the City until nearly the end of the month. Be sure to post lots of subway pics for us. I'd love to see all those people with cameras and signs.

What a spooky and beautiful set. I like 'Seasons' especially. Looks like a fenced-in cemetery filled with really wide gravestones.

Thanks for shedding light onto a long-neglected corner of the City. Pleasant avenue has become a unique oddity in East Harlem, where it is surrounded by Puerto Rican and Mexican immigrants. I really like the way you managed to steer clear of the neighborhood's ethnic identity and present it as a unique corner of East Harlem, devoid of local politics and quarrels.
