I know that newspapers prepare obituaries for famous people long before their deaths. It's still creepy to see them online.
I recently switched to Verizon Wireless. The coverage is great -- unlike AT&T, it actually works in my apartment -- but they signed me up for some bogus "roadside assistance" at $2.99 a month without asking or telling me, and given that I don't own a car, it's inconceivable that I would have knowingly agreed to it. If you use Verizon, check your bill. If they signed you up for it, too, I'd like to hear about it.
AT&T signed me up for some number of text messages every month for $2.99. I discovered it last month and got two months back.
AT&T also doesn't work in my new apartment, but I have six months left on the contract. It's gotten worse since they were acquired by Cingular, so I'm wondering if I can get out of it that way.
hmm, you know what's bad? i don't even look at my bill right now since i just charge it on my credit card. blind faith, never a good thing.
There was a story within the last 6 months or so - either NY Times or Wired, I think, about cell providers padding bills with special services. Sounds like they're still doing it.
Roadside? That sucks. My wife and I just switched to Verizon from Sprint, but I haven't gotten my first bill. What we do get is spam text messages. My wife finally called Verizon to have text messaging turned off. I still don't understand the charm of messaging...
I got screwed too many times by Verizon. Second only to Cingular in the hidden fees deal. So far, T-Mobile has been good to me.
SPAM on text ?!?!?!? wow. . .that stinks. . .i ahve virgin. . .no bill.no problems. its just, i sound like and ogre on my voice mail

Sprint has padded my cell phone bill 6 out of the last 8 months. I've spent 3 hours trying to get it fixed with no luck. Is there any recourse? I've been told 3 times that text messing is turned off but I get a small fee for it on each bill.
