No flash was used in the making of this entry, despite the look of "Y2K Beauty Supply".
What is lighting the Y2K Beauty Salon then? The shadows make it seem like something street level.
I'm really not sure. It might have been something across the street, or a combination of multiple lights.
I noticed your picture that has a sign "evangelical church eben ezer fraternity of jesus christ".
How amazing: i live in Maastricht (The Netherlands) and some 10 kilometers away stands a tower called eben ezer. It's rather mysterious with large statues of birds and dragons on each corner, built by a single man. The place has always fascinated me.
It's a great thing that you come across these strange pictures that have a connection with you...
Some of your photos on this page are from the area where I grew up from 1951 through 1977. Unfortunately, Larry of Larry's Pianos was shot and killed in his place of business back in the 1970s.
The Palace Meat Market is where the old V&O Meat Market was. My Uncle had owned the building once. Phat Disco, I believe, is where Barbara Streisand worked as a teen as the cashier in the Chinise Restaurant.
When the Flatbush Federal Savings first opened up I was happy to get the free helium balloons.
Deal town was where I lusted over toys and Lords Bakery still makes good black and white cookies.
May I use some of these pictures on a Flatbush neighborhood oriented Yahoo Group I run? Let me know.
