The walk (details here) is on for this Saturday, March 27th. There may be some showers in the morning, but the afternoon is supposed to be glorious -- and anyway, even if it's raining in the afternoon, it'll be in the 60s, and it'll be a nice welcome to spring. Beware: The Brooklyn-bound F train is running on the A from West 4th to Jay, so if you're coming from Manhattan, either get off at High Street (and don't get lost) or allow extra time to backtrack from Jay Street to York Street. Meet at York Street station at 1pm sharp.
And on Sunday, there's a rally in opposition to Bruce Ratner's plan to abuse eminent domain to bulldoze several blocks of Prospect Heights and build entirely-out-of-proportion skyscrapers (photos of the affected areas here). It's at 2pm on Pacific Street between 5th and 6th Avenues.
Here's a quick preview of some of the sights we'll see on Saturday. Hope you can make it.

Navy Yard, Brooklyn
I expect a bit more sunlight, though.
Today's Times has a fantastic article about Coney Island Avenue and its ethnic diversity and bizarreness. Some photos from C.I.A.: 1, 2.
hey i love the smokestack photo, chimneys are one of my favourite things. was that tungsten balanced? any details on exposure :P is that building empty, can you climb the inside of the chimney?
Alas, the building is occupied, but I doubt the chimney is in active use.
The chimney shot is a 1-second shutter, exposure +2.00, f 2.8 according to the EXIF.
