Midwood, Brooklyn
New Kantacky Fried Chicken and Eleven-Seven are across the street from each other and supposedly under the same ownership.
The menu is from the apparently nameless Pakistani-Indian restaurant at 1032 Coney Island Avenue (at Foster, B/Q to Newkirk). It changed the way I think about saag (spinach). It's worth the trip. From anywhere. (I can't vouch for the ghost, though.)
And as for the new concept in kosher food, I'm speechless. It's clearly a cursed storefront. (Or perhaps haunted, by the ghost of the biryani.)

There's a glatt (extra-strict) kosher takeout Chinese place not too far away from my house.
Gonna get that all up in your platter.
RICE IN YOUR PLATTER $4.50
PLAIN RICE $3.00
YOUR PLATTER ONLY $1.50
In the first pic...what is GYRO. I'm South African...never heard of the term. Nice shots, again.
Glatt doesn't _quite_ mean extra-strict, but it seems to mostly work that way. Supposedly some joker (or savvy marketer) opened a Glatt Kosher fruit market somewhere in Brooklyn (the joke being that glatt only applies to meat -- it means that the animal's lungs are smooth and free of blemishes).
Jonathan -- gyro is the Greek word for shawarma, a Middle Eastern dish made of chicken or lamb meat (or chicken soaked in lamb fat) that's twirled on a big spit, cut off and grilled. It's become one of the canonical dishes served in low-end New York restaurants. Actually, I think the Greek word is gyros (pronounced yee-row), but everyone assumed that was plural and that the singular was "gyro" (pronounced jyro). Ah, assimilation.
i like the photo of the kosher gym off the rear window. excellent.

Darn I have to go to Foster/CIA and check all these sights. They are all "new" to me. I spent all of HS at 1002 Foster and this brings back dozens of memories.

I'm sad to report that Kantacky Fried Chicken is no longer with us. In its place is a new bodega with tragically non-humorous signage. I always meant to take a picture of it. Glad someone did.
what?????? i dont know what your saying
kantacky?????are calling us tacky????
