First, familiarize yourself with this entry, and note Lauren's comment.
Then, take a look at this. Apparently it only lasted a couple weeks after I took my photo.
Is there anyone who lives in the area and can comment on whether it's been repainted, or how often this happens?
I love New York.
Gratuitous graffiti shot, from the 7 train in western Queens:

You can actually walk around the building in your shot. It's right across the street from PS 1, and it's wicked cool.
Last time I passed the "Hello" wall it was blank. Sad indeed.
I live in Queens and I ride the 7 train right pass that building everyday. It has not been decorated recently. Too bad, it'll be cool to see different graffity every week or month.
the graffiti is constantly changing
there is even more graf that you are missing by just looking at it from the 7.
You can actually walk up the stairs on the exterior of the building at look at some of the graffiti on the rooftops as well as inside the hallways of the building. The building used to be called the Phun factory, it is now called the 5 pointz.
I did a piece at 5ptz last year. A cool place.

I did some art on a train when i see its still there it justs makes my day.
your pic is a pic of "5 pointz" and its in long island city. its a legal graffiti attraction. its has never been painted over, it always looks like that. other writers come and mark the wall on a regular basis. no artist is turned away.
ive never really visited and its ashame since its only a few stops from my house.
That is a building formerly known as the PHUN Factory in Long Island City, Queens. There are manufacturers and over a hundred artist studio. I know because I was there for 6 years.
i think graffiti is a prety cool thing....i do sum graffiti,i aint an expert but id lik 2 be one !!!!!!
queens graffiti is mad nis....one day ill be an expert lik da people in queens !!!!!!!
this is 5 points. if you do graff you can hit this building up. if your a toy i do not advise you to buff or crown any nice writers. you can find space belive it or not. Writers and artists are there on the daily & welcome writers to get together and hit each others books up and stuff. cool place to be =]
queens is the best place to do a graffiti. i do them but not on walls as in a illegal way. i love this town its should be name the "graffiti town" because every were you go you will see graffitis.=]] good job with those graffitis. take care and don't get caught making a graffiti on streets.
i used to go to the phun factory aka 5 ptz when i was 13-14 and into graffiti, it is an amazing place and the sight is great from the seven train but u have to go up the exterior steps and onto the roof of the main building to really appreciate the artwork of these nyc graf artists, its all legal and amazing, if anyone ever goes there ask for "meres" he should be runnin the show there, at least he was when i went, this is truly an nyc landmark
i was in queens for the first time in october and saw this masterpiece from the 7 train. wow. never seen anythin like that.... and im from manchester, england. keep at it lads
