A note on graffiti

09/21/03

First, familiarize yourself with this entry, and note Lauren's comment.

Then, take a look at this. Apparently it only lasted a couple weeks after I took my photo.

Is there anyone who lives in the area and can comment on whether it's been repainted, or how often this happens?

I love New York.

You can actually walk around the building in your shot. It's right across the street from PS 1, and it's wicked cool.

Last time I passed the "Hello" wall it was blank. Sad indeed.

I live in Queens and I ride the 7 train right pass that building everyday. It has not been decorated recently. Too bad, it'll be cool to see different graffity every week or month.

the graffiti is constantly changing
there is even more graf that you are missing by just looking at it from the 7.
You can actually walk up the stairs on the exterior of the building at look at some of the graffiti on the rooftops as well as inside the hallways of the building. The building used to be called the Phun factory, it is now called the 5 pointz.

your pic is a pic of "5 pointz" and its in long island city. its a legal graffiti attraction. its has never been painted over, it always looks like that. other writers come and mark the wall on a regular basis. no artist is turned away.
ive never really visited and its ashame since its only a few stops from my house.

That is a building formerly known as the PHUN Factory in Long Island City, Queens. There are manufacturers and over a hundred artist studio. I know because I was there for 6 years.
